This is the privacy policy for bookishdad.com (referred to below as "the site," "we," "us," or "I," because this is a one-person operation and pronoun consistency is hard). This page explains what information the site collects, how it's used, and what your choices are. If anything here is unclear, email me at hello@bookishdad.com.
What the site itself collects
The site is a static collection of book reviews. It doesn't have a user account system. It doesn't have comments. It doesn't ask you to log in. The site itself doesn't collect personally identifying information about you when you read it.
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Cloudflare may automatically collect standard server logs (IP address, user agent, request paths, timestamps) as part of providing hosting and protecting the site from abuse. Cloudflare's handling of this data is governed by its own privacy policy, which you can read at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
If you send email to an @bookishdad.com address, that email is forwarded through Cloudflare Email Routing to a personal inbox. I read the emails you send me. I don't share them. I don't add you to any mailing list. If I ever launch a newsletter in the future, it will be a separate opt-in and I will update this page to describe how it works.
Cookies and advertising
The site displays advertising. Advertising on the site is provided by Google AdSense. As is standard for sites that use Google AdSense:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.

Analytics
The site does not currently run a separate third-party analytics product beyond what Cloudflare provides automatically for performance and security purposes. If that changes, this page will be updated.
Children
This site is written by a parent for other parents and grown-ups who care about kids' books. It is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them. Advertising served on the site is governed by Google AdSense's content and audience policies.
Links to other sites
The site occasionally links to other websites — publishers, author pages, booksellers, Wikipedia, and so on. Once you click through, you're on their turf, and their privacy policies apply, not this one.
Your choices
You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time; doing so may affect how ads are served but won't break the site itself. You can opt out of personalized advertising using the links above. You can email me at hello@bookishdad.com with any privacy question.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that matters, I'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, add a note explaining what's different. Minor wording tweaks happen without notice.
